A Cat Sitting Success: Building Bonds with Dusty

When I first met Dusty, she was a shy and reserved little soul. Her parents had warned me that she wasn’t one for affection - only they were allowed the privilege of giving her a stroke. She would keep her distance, watching me with curious but cautious eyes. Fast forward to today, and I can’t believe the progress we’ve made together!
During my latest visits, Dusty has blossomed into a completely different cat. Not only does she come close, but she actually enjoys a good tummy tickle! If you had told me that when I first started cat sitting for her, I wouldn’t have believed it. Seeing her roll onto her back and let me give her belly rubs is such a heart warming change, and her parents were just as surprised, saying, "That's brill!"
Dusty is truly a misunderstood girl. While she might come across as shy, she’s actually incredibly talkative once you get to know her. She meows away, always ready to tell you exactly what’s on her mind. And when it’s tea time? There’s no mistaking it! Dusty makes sure you know it’s time for her meal, chatting away in her own little language until she gets her dinner.
Another big milestone during my time with Dusty has been grooming. Initially, she wasn’t too sure about it, but during our recent visits, she’s been rolling over and brushing up against the comb, clearly enjoying the attention. It’s a beautiful thing to witness - trust being built, step by step, turning uncertainty into comfort.
These moments are exactly why I love what I do. Every pet has their own personality, their own way of showing affection, and their own timeline for trust. Dusty’s journey from a wary onlooker to a tummy-tickled, chatty, and affectionate girl has been so rewarding. I can’t wait to see how much more she continues to grow in confidence with each visit!
Do you have a shy or misunderstood pet? Patience, time, and gentle encouragement can work wonders!

Review on Facebook:
Holly has been coming by to look after our house cat Dusty whenever we go on holiday for over a year now. Holly always does a fab job of coming to check on Dusty and making sure she is fed and safe. Dusty isn’t very good with strangers, but Holly has done a great job of bonding with her and slowly gaining her trust! Its good to know she’s in safe hands while we’re away. I would recommend Holly for cat sitting and know she loves her own animals and will do a brill job with your cat or dog!
