About Me

Welcome to my dog walking and pet sitting business! My name is Holly, and I am passionate about providing exceptional care for your beloved pets. With a strong background in animal behaviour, welfare, and management, I ensure that every pet in my care receives the utmost attention, love, and professional service. Here’s a little about my journey and qualifications:

Meet My Pets

Having pets of my own greatly enhances my ability to care for others' pets. I have grown up surrounded by various animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, cats, and dogs. Currently, I have three wonderful dogs:

  • Flynn: A Romanian Rescue Dog with a heart of gold.

  • Roley: A spirited Chihuahua who loves to cuddle.

  • Lilly: A playful Poodle x Chihuahua mix who brings joy to everyone she meets.

In addition to my dogs, I also share my home with four adorable cats:

  • Maisie, Mia, Trixie, and Bobby: Each with their own unique personality and charm.

I also have a Tortoise named Melanie, as well as Tropical and Freshwater Fish, adding to the diversity of my pet family.

Educational Background

Nottingham Trent University

  • BSc (Hons) Zoo Biology: My undergraduate degree provided a comprehensive study of animal biology, behaviour, and conservation.

  • Diploma in Animal Industrial Studies: This diploma enhanced my practical skills and knowledge in the industrial aspects of animal management.

British College of Canine Studies

  • Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour: This advanced qualification has equipped me with a deep understanding of canine behaviour, enabling me to handle and care for dogs with various temperaments and needs.

  • The Dog Walkers & Sitters Association (DWSA) Certificate: This certification verifies my commitment to maintaining high standards in dog walking and pet sitting.

  • Animal First Aid: I am trained to handle emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of your pets at all times.

Derby College

  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management: This program covered a broad spectrum of animal care and management practices, solidifying my foundation in the field.

Experience and Volunteering

Dog Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Rehoming

  • Supporting Amicii Dog Rescue in Romania: My volunteer work involved rescuing and rehabilitating dogs, preparing them for loving homes.

Zoo Keeper and Field Guide

  • Extended Diploma in Industrial Studies, Venomous Snake Handling, and Snake First Aid and Treatment: This role honed my skills in handling exotic animals and provided specialised training in snake first aid. This is also where my passion for animals thrived. I was so lucky to be given the opportunity to care for the Zoo Managers pets and provide emergency care to the zoo and field animals whilst she was away.

Nutritional and Pet Product Advisor

  • Pets & Friends, Kennelgate, and Pets Corner: I have advised pet owners on the best nutritional products and pet care items, ensuring their pets lead healthy lives. I also use my time at the pet shop to raise money and donations for Amicii Dog Rescue.

Animal Research Field Assistant

  • Field Data Collection and Observations in Mauritius and Madagascar: My research experience involved studying wildlife in their natural habitats and contributing to conservation efforts.

Farm Yard Assistant

  • Working on Various Farms: I gained hands-on experience with a variety of farm animals, learning about their care and management.

Kennel and Cattery Hand

  • RSPCA and Cats Protection League Work Experience: I provided care for cats and dogs in shelter environments, ensuring they were comfortable and well-treated.

Veterinary Work Experience

  • Jamie Winstones and Scarsdale: My time at these veterinary practices gave me valuable insights into animal health and medical care.

Animal Care Instructor

  • College Level 1 to 3: I educated and trained students on proper animal care, behaviour, and welfare through comprehensive programs and hands-on experience. I developed and updated curricula based on industry standards, supervised practical sessions, and ensured animal welfare advocacy was central to teaching.

Dog Walker & Pet Sitter

  • Pads 'N' Paws Pet Services & Burton on Trent Pet Services LTD: This was where my passion for pets truly blossomed. During my time with these companies, I gained invaluable hands-on experience and developed a deep understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in providing top-notch care for pets.
